RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE
by Matthew Durrant · 19/09/2018
As announced last week, for our forthcoming home game against 1874 Northwich we will be working alongside Every Month to do our bit to help ease period poverty in our area by collecting donations. Anyone who brings something – whether tampons, pads, or something else – will receive at least one raffle ticket, through which you could stand to win one of several incredible prizes donated by some inspiring local organisations. Those who are unable to bring down a material donation will be able to hand over £1.50 – roughly the amount it costs Every Month to make up a period pack to distribute to those in need – for a ticket. If you bring down a bumper bag of donations, you’ll be given roughly one raffle ticket for every £1.50 worth of goods.
On the list of prizes donated so far, we can confirm the following will be up for grabs:
A Manchester United shirt signed by their squad (donated by Every Month)
Sure to be a much sought after item by Premier League fans of a certain persuasion, we’re honoured to have been gifted this by organisers of Every Month.
2 x tickets to see Nils Frahm at Albert Hall Manchester (donated by Albert Hall)
“For the past two years, Nils Frahm has been building a brand new studio and making music at Funkhaus in Berlin. Out of that time came not only his 7th album, the universally acclaimed All Melody, but a huge amount of additional material”
2 x tickets to any theatre performance at Home Manchester (donated by Home)
“HOME is for curiosity seekers, for lovers of the dramatic, the digital and the deeply engaging; for radicals and reciprocators”
A selection of vinyl records (donated by Enganche Press)
“Enganche Press is a music PR and radio-plugging agency based in Manchester, England. It was founded by Matthew Maxey in 2013”
A bottle of fine red wine in a basket, with quinoa and hummus crisps to accompany (donated by Mike & Kath Tyldesley)
Mike & Kath are two of West’s finest fans, providing the perfect post-game tipple (and snack!) for who ever wins this glorious prize
2 x ICYMI gig tickets of your choice (donated by ICYMI)
“Founded in 2016 by a genuine music fan, ICYMI became a natural extension of our appreciation for new music discovery and emerging talent”
Roasts & Wine for 2 at Electrik Bar (donated by Electrik Bar)
“Electrik is an independent cafébar nestled in suburban Chorlton offering high quality food, drink & service in intimate and down to earth surroundings”
12 can Shindigger beers sampler pack (donated by Shindigger)
“ShinDigger was born whilst Paul and I (George) were living together at Manchester University. We jointly invested our spare cash into a home-brewing kit. It was here the first seeds of ShinDigger were planted”
£20 voucher for Reasons to be Cheerful, Burnage (donated by Reasons to be Cheerful)
“We are Reasons To Be Cheerful, a small family run beer cafe and bar on Fog Lane in Manchester. Specialising in locally and independently made craft beer, real ales, fine wine, premium spirits and retro snacks”
Signed shirts by West Men’s and Women’s teams
West Merchandise
…plus more to be announced over the coming week
Manned by their volunteers, people will be able to drop off their donation at a gazebo (weather permitting) located near the entrance to the ground. Donations will close around half an hour after kick off, with the draw then made and the winners announced at half time via our notice board. Anything that you can pick up on the day – the West shirt, for instance – will be available for collection via the gazebo, whereas we may need to take your details in order to provide the digital gift vouchers required for others. Of course, this event is open for both home & away supporters, and we’d love for our friends at 1874 Northwich to join in on what is sure to be a great day.
Contributions for prizes are still open – if you have anything you’d like to offer, we’d be more than happy to accept: simply fill out the form below
More about Every Month:
Every Month believe that menstrual products are essential, and should not be a luxury good – sentiments that we as a club wholeheartedly agree with. To that end, we will be collecting donations at our game on September 22nd – any contribution (either monetary or material) will be rewarded with a raffle ticket. If you or your business would like to contribute a prize – no matter how large or small – we’d be honoured to accept them, hopefully helping drive further donations to a vital organisation. We had originally planned to run the event over the course of an entire weekend, but with West Women & Development both now away on the Sunday, we’ll be running a separate event later in the season – as well as another initiatives aimed at assisting our local community in increasingly difficult times.
