RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE
West Didsbury & Chorlton junior teams provide excellent football and social opportunities for boys and girls of all ages and abilities. We also offer great volunteer opportunities for adults across many roles.
From under-5 through to under-18 age groups, we have over 150 registered footballers. Football is flourishing at all levels.
Our under-6 and under-7 players develop in our Soccer Skills clubs, whilst teams at under-8 age group and above play in the Timperley & District Junior Football League and the South Manchester Girls Football League.
At the very youngest end of girl’s football, we have our Wildcats club which combines a range of games and fun activities for primary age girls. At the older end of girl’s football, we have a team of sixth form and college-age students aged 16 and 17 playing in the Greater Manchester Women’s Football League under-18 division.
Our junior club’s roots may be based in West Didsbury and Chorlton but today we have players from adjoining areas of South Manchester too, including Whalley Range, Withington, Didsbury, Burnage and further afield.
Players have links to schools and colleges including Oswald Road School, Brookburn School, Cavendish Primary School, Beaver Road School, Chorlton High School, Loreto High School, Parrs Wood High, Loreto College and Xaverian College.
Our links to Oswald Road Junior School in Chorlton go back to the 1960s when the headmistress formed a team. It played under that name until 2015 when it merged with West to form the existing junior football club. Now based at Hardy Farm, off Hardy Lane in Chorlton, our junior pitches and facilities have seen significant development in recent years.
We work closely with the adult men and women’s teams and volunteers at West, which is located next to our junior pitches. The combination of junior and adult clubs offers great opportunities to play football at any age and get involved with a wide range of roles at a brilliant community club. From helping with teams to volunteering on match days, helping with admin or at the clubhouse, carrying out practical improvements to pitches or enhancing the natural surroundings adjoining the River Mersey and Chorlton, there is something here for everyone.
West Didsbury & Chorlton Juniors is a Football Association Charter Standard football club, meaning we have high standards and good practises in everything we do.
