by Rob McKay · 18/09/2017
West Women have been draw at home to NWWRFL Premier Division side MSB Woolton in the 3rd Qualifying Round of the SSE Women’s Cup.
The draw will see West return to Brookburn Road as they take on the side from South Liverpool with the game pencilled in for Sunday 8th October, 2pm KO.
MSB Woolton Football Club is an FA Charter Standard Community Club based at Camp Hill in the Woolton area of south Liverpool. They finished 6th in the Premier Division last season as well as reaching the final of the Argyle Sports Plate losing 4-2 to Bolton Wanderers.
Woolton reached the 3rd Qualifying Round following a 1Q round bye and an impressive 6-0 win away to Manchester Stingers.
West have already overcome one Premier Division side in the competition so far, Blackpool who they defeated them on penalties following a 2-2 draw.
Assistant Manager Rob McKay said; “We’re delighted with a home draw and the chance to progress in front of our own supporters. We’ve had two tough tests in the competition so far against Warrington and Blackpool and we deserve to reach this stage. As the only NWWRFL Division One side, both north and south, remaining in the competition it shows just what an achievement it’s been from the side already. However, we now want to kick on and progress even further.”
The game will take place on Sunday 8th October, 2pm KO, at Brookburn Road with admission FREE for all.
