First Team – Saturday v Winsford United (H)
On Saturday, the first team will play at home for the first time since November as they look to register their first win home win since a Lancashire Trophy victory against Nelson on October 10th. West and Winsford met previously in the league on October 14th with West running out 3-1 winners; however have been on a barren run since that has seen them win just 2 and lose 15 of their last 17 matches.
Manager Steve Settle and his players will be looking to put things right on Saturday and as a gesture of thanks to the clubs loyal supporters have offered to put their expenses behind the bar following the game. Full details can be found here.
Kick off is 3pm, admission is £5 for adults, £3 concessions and FREE for under-12s accompanied by an adult.
Women’s Team – Sunday v FC United of Manchester (H)
On the back of their heroic comeback away to Northwich Vixens last Sunday West Women will return to Brookburn Road for the first time since November when they welcome runaway leaders FC United of Manchester.
West found themselves 3-1 down at half time last Sunday on a cold day at Cheshire FA HQ but second half goals from Leigh McFadyen, Nat Callaghan and Chaneece Reeves saw West come back to win 4-3 from their biggest ever deficit. That made it nine wins from the last 11 games for West stretching back to the beginning of September.
FC United remain the only side to have beaten West in the league this season, running out 5-0 winners at Broadhurst Park back in October. Their run has seen them win 8 of their opening 9 league games with the only dropped points coming at home to Altrincham in a 1-1 draw. In addition, their eight league wins has seen FC United score an incredible 66 goals in the process and sit 7 points clear at the top of the NWWRFL Division One South. West head into Sunday in 4th, 13 points behind the leaders but with four games in hand.
Kick off on Sunday is 2pm, as always everyone is welcome, the bar is open and admission is FREE! For those who cannot make it down on Sunday live updates will be available via Twitter @WDC_Women.
