Where to Watch West This Weekend (11 – 13 August)

It’s a packed weekend of action at Brookburn Road with events on Friday, Saturday AND Sunday.

Lew Currie’s Yearbook Launch

Friday night, sees the first supporters launch event as in-house artist Lew Currie unveils his yearbook annual chronicling West’s record breaking 2016/17 season.

The first event of its kind as the West clubhouse will not only be displaying Lew’s Penfold Pincher artwork but Anthony Potts will be unveiling the new away kit and West Women’s midfielder Ellie Caddick will be displaying her photography as well. Full details can be viewed here.

Opening Day – West Host Widnes

The launch leads into the first home game of the season as West, fresh from their emphatic 5-0 win away in the FA Cup last Saturday away to Athersley Recreation welcome NWCFL First Division Champions Widnes to Brookburn Road.

All eyes will be on the competitive home debut of Tom Bailey who joined from 1874 Northwich in the summer and will soon be re-united with them when West travel there in the FA Cup next week.

There’s sure to be a bumper crowd for the home opener with the bar open from 1.15pm, all the usual range of beers available and Jones Pies making its long awaited competitive debut.

Kick-off is 3pm, admission is £5 for adults, £3 concessions and FREE for under-12s accompanied by an adult.

Sunday Football – West Women Welcome Stockport County

If that wasn’t enough for you West Women continue their pre-season build up when they welcome NWWRFL Premier Division side Stockport County to Brookburn Road.

Paul Caddick’s side were boosted last weekend with a 3-2 win over NWWRFL Division One North Champions Sir Tom Finney thanks to a late winner and will be looking to take another scalp this weekend.

County will be boosted themselves by the announcement that they are to be recognised by the main football club once again.

Admission on Sunday is FREE, the bar will be open and manned by Barca Jim, and everyone is welcome with kick off 2pm.

As always we will bring you the best of the fallout from the weekend’s games throughout the week on our website.
