Where to Watch West This Week – West Didsbury & Chorlton AFC

Where to Watch West This Week

It’s a busy week of mid-week football as West are in action no less than three times.

The week kicks off with Monday Night Football as West’s first team head to Crilly Park where they face NWCFL First Division side Atherton LR, 7:45pm KO.

LR have a rich history in the NWCFL having been crowned Premier Division Champions in 1993 and 1994 but have been in the First Division since their relegation back in 2012. Since then they’ve registered a top half finish just once, in 2014 under the guidance of Michael Clegg, and came perilously close to the drop zone last season when they finished 20th with just 20 points. Fortunately for LR they made steady improvements towards the end of last season under Manager Shaun Lynch and have strengthened throughout the summer and will be looking to push on up the table this season.

Admission for the game is £3 with refreshments available from the clubhouse. A full roundup will be available on the website on Tuesday.

On Wednesday night the Reserves are in action on Hardy Farm when they face Manchester League side Manchester Central; 6:45pm KO.

Manchester Central reformed in 2015 amidst much fanfare and began life in Division One of the Manchester League last season playing their home games at the Regional Athletics Arena. Their first season was a successful one as they finished 5th in the league.

On Thursday, a West XI will take to the field on Hardy Farm when Cheshire League side Unicorn Athletic are the visitors; 6:45pm KO.

Unicorn are managed by former West players Paul Lewis and David Kilbride-Ratcliffe who played under Andy Nelson during the clubs rise from the Manchester League to NWCFL Premier Division. Unicorn boast a number of former West players including brothers, Lee and Tommy Hendley, Lee Shillito, Tom Waring, Mike Aston, Ian Taylor and Ryan Stewart.

Unicorn joined the Cheshire League in 2015 and have registered two mid-table finishes in League Two to date finishing 7th last season.
