RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE

West Didsbury & Chorlton are delighted to confirm the capture of experienced midfielder Daryl Weston.
Weston, 30, joins the club after two years out of the game studying for his masters degree having previously been at Mossley where he made 120 appearances in two spells for the club. Equally comfortable in defence or midfield Weston made his debut for West in last Saturday’s 3-3 draw against Atherton Collieries and Steve Settle wasted no time in signing him up for the season ahead.
“I’m pleased Daryl has thrown his hat in the ring and wants to come and give it a go with us. He’s not been in the game for a little while and it’s taken some time for him to find his feet but we’re going to be patient with him as we know how good a footballer he is. I’ve played with Daryl when he was at Mossley and he was winning player of the year awards and he’s a real all action centre midfielder. He will be an asset to our team.”
Asked what the supporters can expect Setts added “He offers a little of everything as a centre midfielder. He can play in a holding role, he can play box-to-box or an attacking role; he’s really versatile. He brings a lot to the table and whilst Lee Gavin and Martyn Andrews recover from their respective surgeries it gives us that extra option.”
His previous clubs include Stalybridge Celtic, Curzon Ashton, Ashton United, Mossley, Curzon Ashton, Stocksbridge Park Steels, New Mills, Glossop North End.
