West Women Welcome New Faces

The NWWRFL Division One South Champions have moved quickly to secure two new signings ahead of the 2019/20 season.  On Tuesday the Women’s team confirmed the arrival of experienced midfielder Katherine Jones from NWWRFL Premier Division Champions Stockport County.

“Kath’s a tremendous addition to the football club and we’re delighted to have her on board. Her worth ethic and enthusiasm are matched only by her ability and it’s a real coup for West that we’re able to inspire a player of her calibre to join the club.”

Following on from the arrival of Jones, West also moved quickly to confirm the capture of attacking player Shannon Billington from near neighbours Altrincham.

“Shannon’s an exciting young talent who we’ve admired for some time. As a player she has everything in her locker, a superb passing range, amazing vision, a real shot on her and she’s a threat from set pieces too.We’re very excited to have her on board.

West began their pre-season schedule with a hard fought 3-2 win over Liverpool Feds Reserves last weekend. The goals came courtesy of an own goal, Jami Hodges and Shauna Edmondson.

On Sunday, West welcome Women’s National League Premier Division North side Huddersfield Town to Brookburn Road, 2:30pm KO.  The Terriers finished 4th placed in the WNL Premier Division last season.
