RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE

The first team had a fairly late fixture change following our Manchester Challenge Cup opponents forfeiting. Instead they travelled to Liverpool to face Mossley Hill in the league.
They had a poor start when a goalkeeping error led to an early goal for the hosts and things got even worse when West were punished for a handball when the first offence was by a Mossley Hill player. They scored from the free-kick leaving West with a lot of work to do. The arrears were reduced when Taylor Gunn scored (assist: Shauna Edmondson) to go in 2-1 down at the break.
Ten minutes into the second half and West were level. Bianca Blöchl with a headed goal from a Vicky Kerr corner. They went on to push for a winner, with Paris Ford hitting the bar, and Sophie Bracegirdle seeing a goal ruled out for offside. Abbie and Arshi were introduced in place of Paris and Leah to introduce fresh legs, but there were no further goals and West had to settle for a point.
Meanwhile the reserves were on the road to Preston to face Cadley FC in the Lancashire County Cup. West were 2 up after half an hour, both goals scored by Cath Thompson and assisted by Saskia Speed, but the hosts struck back twice to level at 2-2, before Ellie Hall (another Saskia assist) nudged West back in front at the break.
West pushed on in the second half scoring 5 unanswered goals. Cath with 2 more (Emily Moore and Caitlin Morrissey assists), Ellie Hall with her second (assist: Jess Hartley), Julie Ruiz (Jess again) and Caitlin Morrissey (assist: Ellie Hall). West through to the next round with an 8-2 win.
