RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE
by West Didsbury & Chorlton · 04/09/2019
Although the result wasn’t what we wanted on the night, everything else about Tuesday’s fixture against Stalybridge Celtic was encouraging – and all at the club would like to thank those in attendance for creating one of the most memorable nights in our recent history. An attendance of 553 on a rainy Tuesday night at the start of September is a fantastic turnout, and the atmosphere on the terraces matched the drama on the pitch. Up to a relatively recent point in our history, that would’ve constituted a competitive record attendance for the club, and the fact that it isn’t is a testament to our recent growth.
More than anything, we’d like to thank those of you who lent a hand to volunteer: whether it was a spell of stewarding, a spot behind the bar, or any one of the other many jobs that pop up over the course of a game, the club literally would not exist without your efforts and energies. The bar and tea bar staff in particular had a strenuous shift, as did our beer token sellers – all were a credit to our community. As the club continues to grow, our volunteer base will be more important than ever – if you would like to get involved in any way, please get in touch with us here. We are, in particular, looking for someone to co-ordinate our volunteers ahead of matchdays, but any and all skills are always appreciated.
We’re back in action on Tuesday 10th August as we welcome Abbey Hulton United to Brookburn Road as we continue our NWCFL campaign – we’d love to see you back again and in fine voice as we look to continue our unbeaten start to the league campaign. You can see our full September schedule here.
