RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE
by Matthew Durrant · 22/03/2018
As previously announced, this Saturday will see our annual Junior Takeover day. This is the yearly game where members of our Junior section help out at the club, providing support with everything from sales of tea through to being ball boys and countless other tasks that our usual volunteers are tasked with. It also acts as a way for the club to welcome in the wider Chorlton community, as families who may have children who play in the youth teams may not often get a chance to come down to Brookburn Road, just as regulars at our Men’s team games may not know about the various different teams that the club puts out.
In this community spirit, our Junior section have taken it upon themselves to partner with Barakah Food Aid to collect food for families in the local area. Specifically, the items that are being sought are treats (as well as essentials) for families who may be struggling to make ends meet. The club has often collected for local causes, and to see this ethos carrying on across all of our sides is truly heartwarming.
Junior chairman Tim Manley posted the following on Twitter:
So on Saturday's Junior Takeover Day all the jobs at the club are being done by the @WD_CFC Juniors (except serving the beer and playing the game!). Jobs well done have already included designing our fantastic flyer for @BarakahFoodAid @nwcfl pic.twitter.com/2NxmigRQP7

More information can be found on this specially produced flyer, made by Under 14s player Matty Curry – a wonderful effort, and one that we hope will be reciprocated with donations by our supporters this weekend as we welcome Congleton Town to Brookburn Road. You can see more on our Weekend of West in another Tim Manley tweet below, as several of our sides have crucial games. Come on, West!
