Our Vets team recently ramped up their pre-season preparations with fixtures at The Step Places Stadium. Despite the score lines there was relief all round at being able to take to the field once again, as manager Ben Cooper sums up…

West Didsbury & Chorlton Vets 2-4 Unicorn Athletic Vets

A poor first-half resulted in West going in at the break 3-0 down in their first pre-season fixture of the summer, but goals from Ricky Yip and a long range Ben Cooper effort saw the deficit cut in a much improved second half. Goal line clearances and inspired goalkeeping kept West at bay until Unicorn wrapped up the win with their second penalty kick of the game.

West Didsbury & Chorlton 1-3 St Elizabeth’s 1sts.

The Vets narrowly lost to an open age St Elizabeth’s FC in their second pre-season friendly, going down to a 3-1 defeat. West’s goal from Dave ‘Scanners’ Scanlon cut a 2-0 deficit, before the decisive third was scored with the last kick of the game as West pressed for an equaliser. Another good run out ahead of the season.
