For tonight’s visit of AFC Liverpool, the club will proudly be welcoming residents of the Longford Centre, based on Edge Lane, who have been invited along to watch the game.
Formerly a care home, the residence was left empty before being converted into a centre that provides accommodation for single people and childless couples who have recently become homeless, and helps them move on to independent accommodation, employment and training. The opening of the centre is part of Manchester City Council’s wider plans to end homelessness in our city, and has been seen as vital first step towards making that a reality.
The centre opened earlier this month, and will eventually house up to 38 people. You can find out more about it, and hear from a resident, on the About Manchester website here: http://aboutmanchester.co.uk/longford-centre-opens-in-chorlton/
We hope that our visitors enjoy the game – and that they get to celebrate a vital three points for West at the end of it.
