Fans visiting Brookburn Road this weekend will notice a new addition to the far right hand corner of the pitch – the names of fans who generously donated the value of their 2020/21 season ticket to the club.
Almost half of the club’s season ticket base chose to donate the cost to the club who, like most clubs at our level, have suffered severe financial losses over the course of the last 18 months and two incomplete competitive seasons. Each donation has enabled the club to carry on with its ambitious plans for the coming years, which includes a new and improved clubhouse and facilities for match going fans.
Each fan who chose to donate the cost towards the club has been honoured with a pitch-side name plate, showcasing their loyalty and support to the club during one of the most turbulent times non-league football has ever experienced.
The club was also delighted to learn that, when asked, a large number of fans also chose to carry over their season ticket to this upcoming NWCFL campaign at no extra cost, ensuring the famous Brookburn Road atmosphere will remain throughout the 2021/22 season.
Rob Madden, club secretary, commented: “All of us at West have been blown away by the incredible generosity of our fan base. We’ve always known that we are an incredibly fortunate club with the large numbers of fans that follow us at home and away, and this proves it even more so. Their donations will safeguard the club and enable us to move forward with our future plans.”
