West fans, Oscar needs your help and support!
Oscar, 6, and his dad, Simon, are West season ticket holders (as well as long suffering Villa fans!), and come rain or shine can be seen down at The Step Places Stadium supporting the team.
The pair, and Oscar’s mum Dawn, are also busy trying to raise vital funds for a life changing operation for Oscar, who suffers from cerebral palsy, and is unable to walk due to extreme muscle tightness in his legs.
The operation, called SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy), is potentially life changing for Oscar, and could greatly reduce this muscle tightness and potentially let him stand on his own two feet in future
This operation would take place at Alder Hey, but is not currently funded by the NHS. As a result, Oscar needs to raise around £65k for Just4Children to pay for the procedure and the intensive physiotherapy and specialist equipment required afterwards over several years.
Oscar is fast approaching the perfect window to undergo this operation, but if he has to wait too long the damage that his muscle tightness is inflicting on his hips and tendons will be too great for the operation to be worthwhile.
Simon and Dawn say that if they manage to raise the funds quickly enough, it would be life changing for their son. Oscar has been through so much in his life already with barely a murmur of complaint, and it would be devastating to see such an opportunity slip by.
Fans should be on the lookout for Oscar at our home match versus Sandbach United on Saturday 17th October, where he’ll be West’s match day mascot.
