RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE
by West Didsbury & Chorlton · 09/09/2019
The draw for the first round of the Frank Hannah Manchester FA Premier Cup has been made this afternoon, with West being drawn at home to Trafford FC. The game is scheduled to take place on the week commencing 7th October, and will be the first time the teams have faced each other since a pre-season friendly back in 2017 which ended in a 4-1 loss for West.
Last time out in this competition, West exited at the first time of asking – a ruthless Droylsden side putting us to the sword 3-2 at Brookburn Road. However, there have been happier times in the competition: away trips to Hyde United and FC United created many memories for our travelling support, as did a win at local rivals Maine Road in the 2017/18 competition and a victory at Glossop North End in 2016/17. News of the confirmed date will be announced in due course via our social media channels and website, as usual.
The full draw was as follows:
Radcliffe vs FC United of Manchester
Mossley vs Abbey Hey
Droylsden vs Ashton United
Irlam vs Avro
Maine Road vs Chadderton
West Didsbury & Chorlton vs Trafford
Hyde United vs Glossop North End
Curzon Ashton vs Wythenshawe Town

First competed during the 1934-35 season, the Frank Hannah Manchester Premier Cup – or Manchester County FA Shield as it was then known – was originally won by Manchester North End.
Since then, the competition has been dominated by teams in Tameside with Ashton United the most successful side – winning the trophy on 15 occasions. The clubs last success came back in 2003.
Second-placed Droylsden on 13 last won the cup in 2011 while Mossley in third with 11 wins are the last Evo-Stik League club to triumph in 2016 after a 3-1 victory over Stalybridge Celtic, their fourth win in five seasons.
The cup was lifted by Curzon Ashton last season after their 3-1 win against Mossley AFC.
