RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE
by Matthew Durrant · 04/11/2018
This evening sees the return of our annual community bonfire and firework display, a highlight of our calendar and something all at the club look forward to.
It is important to note that capacity for this evenings event will be capped at 750 due to insurance reasons, and once this limit has been reached we will legally be unable to allow further viewers into the premises. This will be enforced regardless of mitigating factors (such as already having family/friends inside etc) as breaking this limit will invalidate our cover for the event. As such, we advise that attendees turn up early in order to avoid disappointment – these limits are a matter of crowd safety, and we ask for your understanding if we are unable to let you or a member of your group in. Updates on capacity will be posted on social media.
There is no parking available at the ground for tonight’s event, and the roads around our ground are privately owned which means there will be no parking on those surrounding roads. We advise taking public transport if at all possible – or making appropriate plans to mitigate the above if that is not a realistic option. For more on getting to the ground, click here.
Gates for this evening’s event will open at 6.00pm, with the bonfire to be lit before 7pm, and our fireworks display beginning at 7.30pm. These times may vary slightly depending on external factors. Our fireworks display has been co-ordinated by the club, with all fireworks provided by Chorlton Fireworks.
Entry in will be £4 for adults, £2 for children, and £10 for a family ticket (2 adults, 2 children). Entry and our outside refreshment areas will be cash only.
Our food will be provided by Wrapscallion, who will be providing freshly made burritos – please click here for more information on the menu and about Wrapscallion.
Finally, we would like to apologise to anyone who attended the club last night – a website unaffiliated to West Didsbury & Chorlton had mistakenly posted false information as to the date of this year’s bonfire. This happened without anyone at the club’s knowledge, and the accompanying publication of contact details of committee members caused considerable distress. We have attempted to contact any source that mistakenly posted the wrong date, but are yet to receive any form of a response. Regardless, we would like to wholeheartedly say sorry to all effected, and ask for your understanding in this problem caused by a third party with which the club had no contact.
We look forward to welcoming you this evening for what is certain to be a hugely entertaining evening.
