RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE
by West Didsbury & Chorlton · 10/09/2019
In our first fixture since the memorable scenes against Stalybridge Celtic last week, as a club we would like to take a moment to once again thank fans for their vociferous support in the FA Cup, and to note that we hope this continues long into what is shaping up to be a promising season for the club.
In that vein, we would also like to remind support – both home and travelling – of the importance of our location, and the role which our club has in the wider community. We’re blessed to have a ground right in the heart of Chorlton, but this does, of course, come with some limitations that out of town stadia do not face. Parking, as many fans are well aware, is limited around the ground due to Chorltonville being privately maintained – something that the club wholeheartedly understands, given the financial impact upon those residents who do have to pay for upkeep. We have been pro-active in making sure that people, as much as possible, come to the ground via public transport, or park on public roads: and we’d like to thank those of you who have followed and understood this.
In addition, we’d like to remind supporters of their responsibilities as members of the local community, and as good neighbours, to limit noise when leaving the game, especially on weeknights. Your vocal support throughout the game couldn’t be any more important, but making sure that local residents are not disturbed when leaving the ground is equally key: we aim to be a club that serves that entire community, whether they’re West regulars or not. While this hasn’t been a major issue over the last few seasons, with our support still growing it was thought to be important to raise this before it becomes a concern.
We look forward once again to your backing this evening, and for the season beyond – thanks once again for everything, we would be nothing without you. Come on, West!
