RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE

As announced last week, we’ve recently partnered with Barakah Food Aid, who will be operating from one of our shipping containers. As such a vital part of our local community, we’re proud to be able to help them in whatever small way possible – and this extends to encouraging our supporters to give them the warmest welcome possible by considering making a donation to their food bank at this Saturday’s game.
The festive period especially can be a hard time for individuals and families who are dealing with any kind of poverty. With December quickly approaching, food banks such as Barakah are likely to be under more strain than usual: as such, we’re asking that supporters who are financially comfortable enough to do so consider bringing donations of non-perishable goods to our game against Litherland Remyca this Saturday (17 November, 3pm kick off). A list of suggested donations can be found below – and whether you’re donating a single tin, or several bags full, please know that your donations will go a long way towards alleviating some of the burden of some of the most vulnerable members of our local community.
Our game against Litherland Remyca should be a fiercely contested one, with both sides needing the three points: West could move out of the relegation spots with a win, whereas our visitors will be looking to build on their good start and move further towards to the safety of midtable as they enjoy their first campaign in the NWCFL Premier Division. We hope that it’ll provide a great spectacle, and provide a worthy welcome to a great local institution such as Barakah. We’ll be providing live updates on our Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram – follow us.
Donations can be left at the shed (opposite end to the clubhouse), and will be added to Barakah Food Aid’s inventory immediately following the game, which will then be divided into parcels for anyone who requires them. Food banks provide nutritionally balanced, non-perishable tinned and dried foods (as well as other essentials, such as toiletries) that have been donated by the local community – so your contribution may be vital over the coming months. If you or anyone you know is experiencing food poverty and is in need of a food parcel, contact Barakah Food Aid on 07506 527 523, or via their social media channels at https://www.facebook.com/BarakahFoodAid/ or https://twitter.com/barakahfoodaid.
Here is a shopping list of suggested donations – whether you’re purposely purchasing them or digging them out of your own cupboard, they’d be enormously appreciated:
