In a month that started out slowly – our first game didn’t come until the 12th – West have finished 2018 is some style: three clean sheets, fifteen goals, four wins, and only one loss. All of which turned around a nine point deficit from safety into a three point cushion on the relegation zone. While there is still a lot of work ahead, it is time to look back on a hugely successful few weeks for the club with our Player of the Month vote.
As selected by our media team, there are 5 candidates for the prize: Ryan Eiselt, who has been instrumental in making sure the defence remained impenetrable at times; Lee Gavin, whose tireless work in midfield has re-energised the side, scoring one goal in the process; Ciaran Kilheeney, a striker whose intelligent link-up play managed to fix a frontline that had begun to falter as we entered winter; Ashley Leather, fan favourite and tireless runner who has proved to be one of the most dangerous West players of recent times; and Joey Shaw, a player who has thrived in the last few games, picking up 4 goals in 5 appearances over the course of December as well as countless key passes and some assists.
