RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE
by Neil Hawkins · 20/04/2021
West Didsbury & Chorlton AFC are delighted to have been supported by a consortium of companies to install a modern power supply to their changing rooms and toilet block at the Hardy Farm Football Centre in Chorlton.
The club run 24 football teams, from boys and girls aged five all the way through to men’s, women’s and a veteran’s team. The Hardy Farm facility has two 11-a-side pitches, a 9v9 and 7v7 pitch, and is used by 20 teams, including all youth and junior teams and the women’s reserves side. Every weekend up to 400 young people can be found playing down at Hardy Farm.
The former power system in the changing rooms was no longer functioning meaning there was no access to lighting, heating or showers, meaning the club faced a potential large bill. However, the club was delighted that local civil engineering specialists Rosgal Ltd were willing to support the club by installing the electrical works. Rosgal Ltd work in partnership with local authorities within the Greater Manchester area, and have previously worked on prestigious works such as the Wilmslow Road/Oxford Road Cycle Route. Additionally, local utility management company, Apollo Energy, provided energy brokerage services and metering assistance free of charge. The work is now complete, and the club are blessed with a fully functioning changing room and toilet block.
Steve Eckersley, club chair, said: “We are delighted to have gained the support of a wonderful team of contractors and partners to help improve our facilities. This is a real demonstration of businesses helping the local community and a great example of companies achieving their Corporate Social Responsibility goals.”
Tim Manley, chair of West’s junior section, added: “These new improved facilities will make a huge difference to the experience of our ground for the young players from West Didsbury & Chorlton, as well as the teams from around Greater Manchester and the North West who visit us. We are very thankful for the support of the local companies who have made this happen.”
