RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE
by Matthew Durrant · 27/12/2018
The club can confirm that Rob McKay has stepped down from his role as media officer. One of the most instrumental figures in the rise of the club’s profile over the past 6 years, Rob spent much of his time in the role tirelessly working to help integrate our club into the wider Chorlton community, as well as instigating many ground breaking initiatives over that time period. Over the past few seasons, Rob’s role at the club has diversified – in particular, he was the driving force behind creating the West Women sides, and has being a highly skilled and qualified coach over that period too. All at the club would like to thank him for his efforts, and look forward to continuing to work with him in his various other roles for the remainder of the season and beyond. The passion, excitement, and commitment shown by West fans over the past few seasons is in no small part down to Rob McKay’s endeavours in the role.
On stepping down, Rob McKay said:
After six years I’ve decided to step down as the club’s Media Officer
As the club has grown in size so has the demands of the role on a day-to-day basis and I feel it’s time for someone to come in with fresh ideas and renewed focus to take the club onto the next level.
I’d like to place on record my gratitude to Rob Turley for giving me the opportunity in 2012. In assition, I’d like to thank Andy Nelson and Steve Settle for being two managers who both understood and encouraged what was trying to be achieved.
I’d also like to thank many people through the NWCFL (and Evo-Stik) who I’ve shared ideas with and together have helped increase the leagues profile
Finally, I’d just like to say that I’ve created ‘friends for life’ since I’ve become involved with West Didsbury & Chorlton and would thorough recommend volunteering at your local club to anyone.
Rob’s responsibilities will be absorbed by the current media team – if you would like to get involved in any way, email us at media@wdcfc.co.uk
