Chris Rowley takes his side down the Airport line to face Wythenshawe Town in what promises to be another keenly-contested derby.
West’s tussles with Town have quickly become some of the most eagerly-awaited entries on the calendar since the sides’ first meeting last season, but the visitors will need to be on top of their game against a Town side who have hit the ground running this term.
There was a sense of injustice around Ericstan Park when the 2019/20 season was declared null and void, with James Kinsey’s side on course for promotion to the Premier Division. They appear to have channelled that frustration into 13 goals and nine points from their first three league games, including an 8-0 evisceration of St Martins last weekend.
West, meanwhile, sit on four points from their opening two games, and Rowley will draw on the positives from Saturday’s dramatic 4-4 draw at home to Sandbach. His side also have happy memories of their last visit to Baguely, with Josh Tinker and Billy Matthews completing a second-half comeback to earn a point in January.
West captain Sam Heathcote played for the Blues from December 2018 to May 2019. If fit, Ash Leather will be returning to a ground he knows better than most, having enjoyed two separate spells at Town before departing for West on both occasions.
Town keeper Steve Dryden appeared for West in the 2017/18 season, filling in for the injured Aaron Ashley.
