The result in midweek did not change our league position but it did put us only three points behind 8th placed Congleton Town, with a game in hand and a superior goal difference. With this in mind, Chris Rowley and his side will no doubt be extremely determined to end this weekend with another victory, as they aim to reach the closing stages of the NWCFL season as high as possible in the table. West have now lost only one of their last five league matches, and keeping this momentum up will put us in the strongest position possible going into next weekend’s historic FA Vase fixture.

Tuesday brought a start for goalscorer Billy Matthews, as he continues with his recovery and return to the team, he may be involved again this weekend. In addition, Jean-Jacques Kirongozi contributed with an extremely impressive substitute appearance, so it is likely that he will play a part. Ben Elliott has still been sidelined for the last couple of games and it is not yet certain whether he will be a part of the squad for this one.

Our visitors Burscough come into this one off the back of a run of three losses in their last five league matches, and they also sit in 21st place in the league. They will be no doubt be desperate for points as they look to rise up the table and climb out of the relegation zone, so West will need to be wary of that this weekend.

The last meeting between these two sides came back in September, it ended with West taking all three points from an away trip which saw them run out as 6-1 winners. Let’s hope that we see some similar fortune for this one as we look to ride the wave of positive form going into the much anticipated Coventry game next weekend.

We can’t wait to see you all back at Brookburn, come on West!
