West Didsbury & Chorlton Women begin the 2018/19 season with the short trip across town to Whalley Range FC today where they will take on Manchester Stingers in the SSE Women’s FA Cup.
The game, taking place at Kings Road, is the first ever competitive meeting between the two sides as West compete in the Women’s FA Cup for just the second time in their short history. They face a Manchester Stingers finished 7th in the NWWRFL Premier Division last season, their highest finish since 2016
Last season saw West reach the first round proper where they exited to NEWRFL Premier Division side Farsley Celtic in a thrilling 6-4 encounter having beaten Warrington Wolverines as well as NWWRFL Premier Division sides Blackpool and MSB Woolton en-route.
Stingers also enter the competition for just the second time having beaten Blackburn Community 2-1 in the First Qualifying round before exiting at the hands of MSB Woolton, 6-0.
The first ever meeting between the two teams takes place at Whalley Range FC, Kings Road, M21 0XX 2pm kick off and admission is FREE.
Elsewhere the Development squad travel to Ruskin Drive where they will take on Pilkington in their final pre-season friendly, 1pm KO.
