Last weekend’s draw at home to Winsford United meant West enter this weekend in 9th position, but equalling 2015/16’s record 5th-placed finish is still within reach – West are nine points adrift of the top five, but have played four fewer matches than 5th-placed Northwich Victoria.
Only Bury AFC have played fewer games than West in the Premier Division, but Chris Rowley’s side will be determined to turn games into points, starting with this weekend’s clash with fellow First Division South graduates FC Isle of Man.
FC Isle of Man have endured a turbulent first campaign at step 5, not helped by last year’s leading scorer Sean Doyle sustaining a serious injury in the first game of the season. Manager Chris Bass was shown the exit door in November, with former Head of Football Paul Jones occupying the dugout ever since.
Doyle made his return to the scoresheet last weekend, hitting a hat-trick in a 5-3 home reverse to Longridge Town. Despite that defeat, Ravens look to have done enough to ensure they remain in the Premier Division, sitting ten points clear of Burscough with six matches remaining.
Dontai Gabidon’s late strike proved the difference in October’s Brookburn Road meeting, after Luke Murray had cancelled out Rhain Davis’ opening goal.
