West make their first of two trips to the Townfield this evening as they look to arrest a run of back-to-back to league defeats when they take on struggling Barnton.
West were rocked at home by league leaders Runcorn Town on Saturday as they were well beaten 4-2 and will be hoping for a reverse in their league fortunes against a side they’ve beaten on their two meetings to date.
Last season’s visit to Barnton saw the turning point in West’s season as, despite playing 70 minutes with 10 men, ran our 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Saul Henderson and Nic Evangelinos (2). That ended a run of five games without a win and saw West go onto win 9 of their last 11 fixtures. It also marked the debuts of both Aaron Ashley and Josh Tinker; both now firmly established as fan favourites. Heading into tonight’s game in 9th place Manager Steve Settle will hope that a win tonight will have the same galvanising effect.
Richmond Botchey returns from suspension, whilst Anthony Potts is hoped to have returned from a cut to the ankle that left his requiring a hospital visit suffered against Runcorn Linnets. New arrivals Pauli Loukola and Declan Rydings are also in contention for the Setts 16 man squad.
Barnton
It’s been a tough start to the season for Barnton who head into tonight’s game winless and with just three points from their opening eight league fixtures as they sit 22nd in the table ahead of pointless Squires Gate.
They began the season with heavy defeats to Parkgate in the FA Cup and Charnock Richard but will be boosted by the fact they’ve held big budget 1874 Northwich and Congleton Town to draws as well as Winsford United. They will also be looking to build on their FA Vase win at home to Penistone Church last weekend.
