Preview

Following on from a tough run in the league, West will be looking to use this match, as well as Tuesday’s Lancashire Challenge Trophy game, as a springboard to improve their fortunes and lift morale. Chris Rowley’s side have not won in three matches and they have endured some extremely frustrating games, but it is not through lack of effort and the whole squad will be hungry to get a win on the road and start a run of form similar to the very beginning of this season.

After reaching the FA Cup First Qualifying Round for the first time and reaching this round of the FA Vase, this squad have already made this a landmark season and they have given themselves a great platform to build on in the future.

The home side Bacup are currently working through a great spell of form as they have won six of their last seven games, and they have scored an abundance of goals in the process. They currently sit in 9th place in the NWCFL First Division North and they are on the rise after a slow start to their campaign, they will definitely be up for this and prove to be tough opposition.

The last time that these two sides met was in last year’s Lancashire Challenge Trophy 1st Round and it ended in a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes, with West running out as 5-4 victors on penalties. With not much separating the sides last time, it could prove to be a close and entertaining affair this time.

With more history on the horizon and the great need for a victory, your support is more important than ever for the lads this weekend so we hope to see you there in your numbers cheering West on. Come on West!
