West is delighted to announce that Neil Hawkins has been appointed as the club’s new Media and Communications Officer.
As a local to Chorlton, Neil joins the club eager to promote the good work of the men’s, women’s and junior teams, as well as our work in the community and the ongoing Target 50 campaign.
Neil joins West with an extensive media background. He currently works for UCFB, a sports university who operate out of the Etihad Campus and Wembley Stadium, in their media and marketing team.
Despite the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 crisis for all in involved in football, efforts are continuing behind-the-scenes to ensure the return of fans to The Step Places Stadium when it is deemed safe to do so.
Neil’s appointment follows that of Nathan Soulby as manager of West Women.
Chairman Steve Eckersley commented: “This is a hugely important period for West as we restructure and prepare for the resumption of grass roots football. We moved quickly to appoint Neil and Nathan to reflect the ambition and vision of our club. We are delighted and excited to have them on board and we wish them every success in their new roles.”
“Neil replaces Matthew Durrant who has stepped down from the role due to work commitments. As well as being a committee member at West, Matthew played a pivotal role in developing our media and communications. I would like to thank him for his tremendous hard work, creativity and dedication.
“We still need to make one more appointment in the next few weeks to complete our restructuring and this post, which is new, will be announced soon.”
