by Matthew Durrant · 13/09/2019
West are pleased to announce the addition of Matty Argent-Barnes to the squad, with his registration completed in time for him to be in consideration for the weekend’s FA Vase tie at Runcorn Town.
Argent-Barnes joins having come through the ranks at Bolton Wanderers, Matty also spent time on at Crystal Palace last season and made appearances for Bamber Bridge in the Northern Premier League. A young, exciting forward, he joins having trained with the squad recently and offers Brad Cooke options in attack following the departure of Danny McLaughlin last week. Born in December 2000, he’ll be one of the few players to have represented West having been born this millennium – and, naturally, comes with big potential.
Manager Brad Cooke said: “[I’m] really pleased to have someone of Matthew’s quality down at the club. He is young, talented and more importantly a local lad who is keen to make an impression. He had a successful spell at Bamber Bridge on loan from Bolton and did well. Unfortunately, he is coming out of full-time professional football but we feel we can give him a platform to climb the ladder again. I’m excited to work with him. He came highly recommended by our secretary Rob Madden, so he must take huge credit is getting this over the line”
All at the club look forward to seeing Matty in a West shirt, and would like to offer him a warm welcome to the club.
Two Goals from the same match this weekend of note, the first being by @BamberBridgeFC 's Matthew Argent-Barnes with this close-range effort…
