Match Report | Wigan Athletic Ladies 2-9 West Women

An emphatic victory for West Women and an early season league double over Wigan, following our 5-0 home victory a couple of weeks ago.

Early goals from Taylor Gunn (assist: Vicky Frisby) and Sophie Bracegirdle set West on their way and it wasn’t long before Gunn added her 2nd (assist: Isha Mundell) and then swiftly  went on to complete a first-half hat-trick.

A goalkeeping error led to an own goal and West led 5-0 at the break.

A couple of changes for West at half-time (O’Neill for Frisby, Vyas for Bracegirdle) didn’t break our rhythm and it was Taylor Gunn with her 4th goal of the afternoon, assisted by Jami Hodges.

Taylor completed a great afternoon with her 5th, and West’s 7th, and then Biff got in on the act to give West an 8-0 lead (Isha with another assist).

The home team got on the scoresheet with a couple of goals, but in between them scoring, Jami Hodges added West’s 9th.

With this being the only league game of the weekend, West jump up to 5th and see a great improvement in goal difference too.
