Match Report | West Women’s teams progress in County Cups

Both firsts and reserves were in action on Hardy Farm on Sunday, drawn against lower league opposition in the Manchester and Lancashire County Cups respectively.

The first team eased to a 10-0 win against AFC Oldham’s reserves. First half goals for Taylor Gunn (2), with Leah Bowett-Robinson, Abbie Wright and Annabell Veryard all grabbing their first West goals. In the second half, Sophie Sumner also netted for the first time in a West shirt, followed by Paris Ford, second goals for both Abbie and Annabell, and finally Taylor Gunn completing her hat-trick.

The reserves game was on paper a closer matched affair, one tier of the pyramid separating them from Bolton County. A terrific display from Cath Thompson saw her seal a double hat-trick and assist the other goal in a 7-2 win. The other goal came from Neha Biju who also supplied an assist for Cath, along with Tracey Sloane, Emilia Mills, Julie Ruiz (2) and Sophie Elliott.
