A great battling performance by West in a highly competitive game at the Step Places Stadium.
A positive start from West saw Biff go close on 6 minutes, cutting in from the left wing and sending her shot just over the bar. H then had a decent strike on 14 minutes, but straight at the keeper.
The visitors opened the scoring on 18 minutes, a decent free kick swung in and a header flicked the ball past Claire. 0-1.
Biff had a header saved on 21 minutes and then West had to make 3 blocks in the 6 yard area to deny Stingers a second.
West improved further as the half went on and got their reward on 37 minutes. A ball played across the area from the right, Jami sending it back the other way into the path of Taylor Gunn who finished well into the centre of the goal. 1-1.
Sophie Bracegirdle had an excellent effort on 39 minutes, her shot just wide.
A competitive first period ended 1-1.
The opening 20 minutes of the second half saw very few chances created but it was a great game to watch, West battling for every ball. Biff had our first chance of note in the half, blasting over on 64 minutes.
West made a change on 70, with Isha coming on for Jami. We were in a period of decent pressure for the next few minutes, forcing a couple of corners. In the last 10 minutes, the pressure was coming from the visitors but West again stood firm.
The last action of the game came deep in injury time. A Cheadle corner was cleared by West and a fully deserved, hard-earned point was secured.
