MATCH REPORT | Cheadle Town 2-1 West

Wednesday 15th January 2020, NWCFL First Division South

Cheadle Town 2 (Davin 13, Brooks 76)
West 1 (Gavin 36)
Att: 106

West fell to a first defeat of 2020 on a frustrating evening at Cheadle Town.

Chris Rowley’s side had the majority of the ball at Park Road but were undone by Patrick Davin and Ben Brooks goals either side of Lee Gavin’s equaliser.

First Division South leading scorer Davin gave his side the lead after just 13 minutes, seizing on a loose ball and beating Andrew Jones to prod into the net.

The visitors pushed for an equaliser and after James Cottee spurned a presentable opportunity, rounding ex-West keeper Marcus Burgess but shooting into the side netting, Gavin found the net in fortuitous circumstances when his cross looped in off the crossbar.

Brooks ensured the points would be staying in Cheadle with 14 minutes remaining, tapping home a cross after West had been caught out by a long ball down the right channel.

West: A. Jones, Cook, Gabidon, Tinker, Heathcote, McLellan, Miller, Gavin, Cottee (Matthews 73), Boland, Blackwell (C. Jones 86). Not used: Ryan, Newns, Argent-Barnes.
