West v Winsford United
Brookburn Road, M21 8FE
£5 adults, £3 concessions, free for under-12s accompanied by an adult
West are set to play at home for the first time in almost two months as Winsford United visit Brookburn Road.
Home fixtures against AFC Liverpool, AFC Darwen, Hanley Town and Padiham all fell victim to the weather over November and December, but Saturday’s meeting with the Blues looks set to go ahead as West aim to respond following last weekend’s 6-1 defeat at City of Liverpool.
There has been little to choose between the sides in recent years, and that has continued this season – West won 3-1 at the St Luke’s Barton Stadium in October’s league fixture, but the Blues won 5-1 at the same venue in a Macron Cup tie the following month.

Little has changed for Winsford in the weeks following their last clash with West – they remain safely ensconced in mid-table, though an inability to put together a sustained run of form is likely to continue to hamstring any attempt to challenge the top six. The Blues did record a hugely impressive 2-1 win at high-flying Runcorn Town at the start of December and followed it up with an equally notable win at Ashton Athletic, but they endured a poor festive period. They fell at in-form Widnes before drawing to Squires Gate and suffering a New Year hammering at home to Runcorn Linnets.
West were ushered out of the Macron Cup as Winsford dominated the second half at the St Luke’s Barton Stadium. After a goalless first period, Michael Koral and Tom Bailey exchanged goals, but Rhys Webb, Daniel Hudson and Callum Gardner (twice) struck as West’s interest in the competition ended at the second round stage.
