Ten days on from the original meeting at Bower Fold, West and Stalybridge Celtic cross swords again in an FA Cup replay.
A home tie on Saturday 7th September against either Padiham or Marine is the prize as West look to progress to the first qualifying round for the first time.
Brad Cooke’s side produced an outstanding defensive performance to keep out Celtic in the first game, and a similar effort is likely to be necessary if West are to cause a sizeable upset. The West players and support, though, will relish the possibility of a memorable night under the Brookburn Road lights.
West weren’t in action at the weekend but Stalybridge picked up a point with a goalless draw at Buxton, a result that leaves Celtic in 9th position in the Northern Premier League with seven points from their opening four games.
Matthew Durrant looks forward to Tuesday’s game with West supporter Tommy Stewart.
