West v Litherland REMYCA
Brookburn Road, Chorlton, M21 8FE
£5 adults / £3 concessions / free for under-12s
Following two cup assignments, West return to league action this weekend as Litherland REMYCA visit Brookburn Road for the first time.
West’s Macron Cup win against Eccleshall last Saturday was a much-needed first win in ten attempts, but their perilous league situation was thrown into sharp focus when Winsford United took advantage of a game in hand to leave West in the Premier Division relegation zone.
It may be too early to panic, but if West are to stave off the threat of a first relegation at NWCFL level then it is vital that they add to their two league wins as soon as possible – starting with the visit of the Premier Division Merseyside newcomers.
“The Remy” have made a consistently inconsistent start to Premier Division life – five wins, five draws and five defeats – and have recently developed a habit of striking late. Their two late goals to draw level against Padiham last weekend followed an 81st-minute winner at Whitchurch Alport and a 80th-minute leveller against Winsford United. They made national headlines for the wrong reasons in August when they were expelled from the FA Cup over an unpaid £10 fine.
