MATCH PREVIEW | West v Droylsden

Tuesday 9th October 2018 (7.45pm), Manchester Premier Cup first round
West v Droylsden
Brookburn Road, Chorlton, M21 8FE
£5 adults / £3 concessions / free for under-12s

West will hope to make more Manchester Premier Cup memories on Tuesday night when they welcome Droylsden to Brookburn Road.

Steve Settle’s side won at Maine Road in last season’s competition on the way to a quarter-final against Hyde United, but begin this season’s campaign at home against a side 19 places above them in the pyramid.

Like West, the Bloods find themselves at the wrong end of the table at this early stage of the campaign – they are one of four teams to sit on six points in a congested NPL Division One West – but they have played fewer games than anyone else in their division. Droylsden have already faced NWCFL opposition in cup competition this season, exiting the FA Cup to Squires Gate after a preliminary round replay.

Only Ashton United have won the Manchester Premier Cup more times than Droylsden, but the latest of the Bloods’ 13 successes came in 2011 and they lost a semi-final penalty shoot-out to Trafford last season.
