West welcome Charnock Richard on the final day of the Premier Division season knowing a point will guarantee a third consecutive top-ten finish.

Ending the season in the top half of the table looked unlikely at Christmas, but Monday’s derby win over Maine Road was West’s ninth win in 12 games and continued an excellent conclusion to the season – Steve Settle’s side have averaged two points a game since the start of March.

Charnock killed off AFC Liverpool’s survival hopes with a 2-1 bank holiday win on Merseyside. Both goals came courtersy of Carl Grimshaw, who hit the 50-goal mark for the season at the Marine Travel Arena. The NWCFL’s top scorer also struck against West in March, but was on the losing side on that occasion as Matt Eckersley and Ash Woods secured all three points for the visitors.

By the numbers

  • A victory against Charnock would match West’s highest win total in the Premier Division – 21, in 2016-17 and 2015-16.
