West will look to continue their winning start to 2020 when Cammell Laird visit Brookburn Road.

Last weekend’s 2-1 win at Alsager Town kept West in touch with the First Division South pace-setters, but Chris Rowley’s team dropped to 7th in midweek due to results elsewhere so another win against Laird is of upmost importance.

Cammell Laird arrive in M21 on the back of five straight defeats, most recently a 7-0 drubbing at Nantwich Town in the Cheshire Senior Cup, but West’s win in Birkenhead in September was keenly-contested and the visitors will go within one point of West with a win.

Saturday 28th September 2019, Cammell Laird 1-2 West: West dug deep to come from behind and claim a vital win against Cammell Laird.

Lee Grimshaw’s third goal of the season, midway through the second half, was enough to secure three points which lifted West into third in the First Division South. Kyle Sambor had given Lairds the lead early on before Ben Steer equalised shortly before the break, with the excellent Grimshaw’s intervention ensuring that West’s winless run ended at two.
