West go in search of only their second win of the month as they aim to round the decade out with a victory in Oswestry against the NWCFL’s bottom side.

A truly disappointing display in the South Manchester Derby left the club with only one win their last 6 games, with that solitary victory having an asterisk alongside it thanks to the vanquished Wythenshawe Amateurs being down to 9 men for the majority of the second half.

A huge improvement in all departments will be needed to secure a much-needed win against St Martins, one of the few sides in the division who are in worst form than West, having only managed a single draw in their previous six. Regardless, home advantage – St Martins use the same ground as Oswestry Town, on a 4G surface that has tested West already this season – could tip things in the hosts favour.

At the time of writing, West sit 12 points outside of the top 4. A loss, and another few weeks of form akin to what we’ve seen since Brad Cooke’s final game in charge – an away loss to then-bottom side Ellesmere Rangers – could mean that our bid to regain a place in the Premier Division is virtually over before the snowdrops have even begun to bloom. What would’ve been considered a routine tie only 6 weeks ago now looks hugely important.
