Saturday 1st September 2018 (3pm), FA Vase first qualifying round
Lower Breck v West
Anfield Sports Centre, Liverpool, L6 0AG
£5 adults, £2 concessions, free for under-16s
West begin their FA Vase campaign with a trip to Liverpool to face NWCFL newcomers Lower Breck.
Steve Settle’s side go into this game off the back of a morale-boosting first win of the season against Whitchurch Alport, and will be looking to progress past the Vase first hurdle for the second consecutive season. Last year, West beat AFC Blackpool and Stockport Town before bowing out against West Auckland Town in the first round proper.
Lower Breck were all-conquering on their way to promotion from the Liverpool County Premier League last season, winning all four competitions on offer and maintaining an unbeaten run that began in October 2016. That promotion means they are the highest-ranked club to play within the city boundaries bar Liverpool’s big two. St Helens Town handed them an unfamiliar defeat in their first-ever NWCFL game, but they have since found their feet with three wins in the next six games, including 5-1 and 7-1 wins over Garstang and Chadderton respectively.
