West make the short trip to Irlam as they begin a crucial March period that may well determine which league they play in next season.
Recent results have made it increasingly likely that the two relegation spots will be filled by Abbey Hey and one of either West or Hanley Town – the Staffordshire side lie one point above West after missing a chance to boost their survival hopes in a last-minute defeat to Padiham last weekend.
Irlam made a superb start to the season, remaining unbeaten in all competitions until 22nd September and winning away at Prescot Cables in the FA Cup preliminary round. They also enjoyed an extended run in the FA Vase, but have faded since the turn of the year and a fifth-round Vase exit to Chertsey Town on 9th February was followed by a run of just one win in the following five games.
The Blues are likely to have an important say in matters at both ends of the table, facing West and Hanley Town in successive weeks before travelling to promotion-chasing City of Liverpool on the final day of the season.
