The right to host holders FC United in a Manchester Premier Cup semi-final is the prize as West travel to Tameside to take on Hyde United.
Steve Settle’s side have seen their last two games fall victim to the weather, but despite freezing temperatures that shouldn’t be a problem on Tuesday night thanks to Ewen Fields’ all-weather surface.
West reached this stage with their last win in any competition, beating Maine Road 4-1 in October’s South Manchester derby, while the Tigers saw off Radcliffe in their first-round tie. A key player in Tameside’s historical dominance of this competition, Hyde have lifted the trophy on eight occasions, their most recent success coming in 2006.

The Tigers
Hyde’s recent FA Cup clash with Milton Keynes, broadcast on the BBC, may have ended disappointingly – a 4-0 defeat combined with damage to Ewen Fields’ playing surface caused by an errant flare – but the Tigers’ turn on national television was another stopping point on their journey back from the brink. They suffered three consecutive relegations from 2014 to 2016, Conference Premier meetings with Luton and Cambridge United making way for NPL Division 1 North tussles with Goole and Brighouse Town, but are roaring again this season under the stewardship of Danny Kelly.
As well as reaching the FA Cup first round proper for the first time since 1994, Hyde lost once in all competitions up to the end of October, and Saturday’s 6-1 pummelling of Trafford left them one point off the automatic promotion places with four games in hand on second-placed Prescot Cables. That win saw them register ten goals in their last two matches, but the Tigers also boast the league’s meanest defence, conceding just 12 goals in 16 games.

By car
The quickest route from Chorlton to Hyde is via the M60, and takes around 20 to 40 minutes. Please check travel news before you set off.
By public transport
Newton for Hyde station is around half a mile from Ewen Fields. Trains run direct from Piccadilly – check the National Rail website for times.
