MATCH PREVIEW | Barnoldswick Town v West

Saturday 2nd December 2017 (3pm), NWCFL Premier Division
Barnoldswick Town v West
Silentnight Stadium, BB18 5LJ
£5 adults, £3 concessions, free for under-16s

West face the source of their miserable run of form on Saturday as they travel to Barnoldswick Town.

Barlick’s 2-0 win at Brookburn Road on 18th October ended the hosts’ six-game winning streak, and West have lost every match since bar the Manchester Premier Cup victory at Maine Road.

Adverse weather conditions have resulted in the Premier Division’s northernmost club kicking their heels since a 5-0 win against Squires Gate on 18th November, with their Macron Cup tie with Charnock Richard called off on three separate occasions along with a league match at home to Abbey Hey.

Barlick

Danny Craig’s team may have been frustrated by the conditions over the past couple of months, having matches called off seven times in October and November, but they do come into this game on the back of two big wins. They hammered AFC Darwen 4-0 at the Crown Ground on 15th November before bringing the Squires Gate revival to a crashing halt three days later – Barlick’s 5-0 win was the first defeat for Gate in eight matches.

Barlick finished 9th in 2015-16 and 11th a year later, and it’s likely that they’ll occupy the mid-table positions again at the end of this campaign. However, improved home form will be required if they are to avoid being sucked into a relegation dogfight, having lost five of eight league games at the Silentnight Stadium so far this season. Barlick have shown durability on the road, though – they struck late with ten men to rescue a 4-4 draw at City of Liverpool in September, before claiming an impressive point at Runcorn Linnets a month later.

Last time – West 0-2 Barlick, Tuesday 18th October 2017

Barlick claimed all three points with a goal in each half. Matthew Cavanagh and Andrew Hill scored as West slumped to a first defeat in seven games.
