West return to Brookburn Road for an August bank holiday double-header against foes old and new.
On Saturday, Bootle make the familiar trip along the M62 to south Manchester, and two days later Whitchurch Alport make the journey north from Shropshire for their first meeting with West.
With West bottom of the embryonic NWCFL Premier Division table following a return of one point from three games, this pair of matches has already taken on vital importance.
The Bucks, looking to improve on last season’s 5th-place finish, made a relatively slow start to the season as they drew to Irlam and Winsford United before bowing out of the FA Cup at Penistone Church. However, they have picked up of late with six goals in their last two games – a 3-0 win at Burscough followed by a 3-1 success at home to Charnock Richard.
After last season’s NWCFL Division One play-off success, Alport are still looking for their first win at level nine. They were seconds away from victory against 1874 Northwich last Monday before a stoppage-time equaliser, but they did make history in the FA Cup when they beat Coventry Sphinx in their first-ever match in the competition.
