AFC Liverpool v West

Seven days after the sides met at Brookburn Road, West and AFC Liverpool reconvene on Merseyside for the visitors’ penultimate away game of the season.
West responded to last week’s stoppage-time defeat to the Reds with Saturday’s 2-1 win at Northwich Victoria which lifted them into the Premier Division’s top ten. That was a fifth win in six for Steve Settle’s side, with Tom Bailey getting back into the goalscoring groove – after a six-game drought, his opener at Townfields was his second goal in as many games.
The Reds failed to build on last Tuesday’s win as they were edged out by a solitary goal at Runcorn Town, but a spirited display against the promotion candidates will have boosted hopes of escaping the relegation zone. They remain within striking distance of Burscough after the Linnets’ defeat at their Runcorn namesakes on Monday night, with both sides having seven games left to play.
