This promises to be a closely-fought contest between two sides doing well in their respective leagues. West went top of the NWCFL First Division South on Tuesday night with a comprehensive 5-0 win at Cammell Laird – a sixth win in a row, a sequence in which Chris Rowley’s side have scored 25 goals and conceded just three.
Nostell, playing in the Northern Counties East League Division One – at an equivalent level to West – currently sit 5th with 19 points from their first eight games. Their unbeaten start was unceremoniously ended with a 7-0 hammering at leaders Brigg Town last weekend, but prior to that they were scoring for fun – racking up four goals on four separate occasions in August and handing out an 8-2 pummelling to Shirebrook Town in the NCEL League Cup.
The winners will host Parkgate in the Second Qualifying Round on Saturday 25th September, after the Steelmen beat Humber United on Friday evening.
