RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE

These notes are taken from our programme for the visit of Barnoldswick Town. Buy on the gate for £2.
Good evening everyone and welcome to Brookburn Road this evening for what promises to be an entertaining league game against Barnoldswick. We hope everyone connected with tonight’s visitors enjoys a warm welcome and following tonight’s game, we wish them well for the rest of the season.
Tonight’s game comes on the back of our first clean sheet in over a year! Throughout that time perhaps the horrendous nature of that statistic has been masked by the fact that we’ve scored lots of goals!
Saturdays result was just rewards for the time we have put in on the training ground in trying to instil a little more defensive pride into the team. We’ve been working hard at getting further up the pitch and trying to eliminate the individual errors that have cost us at the start of this year! We’ve tried different systems and personnel and I was delighted for Marcus, Tinks, Saul, Ryan and Ben that they managed to set the platform for a big win for us.
Momentum can be a big thing in football, we are optimistic that Saturdays result can be the catalyst for one of our trademark winning runs to get us back up the table.
Tonight, will be a tough task though, Barnoldswick have enjoyed a productive start to the season and last year were one of the best teams we played.
In Zac Dale they have one of the standout players in the league and we will have to be at our best to make sure we get the right result.
Off the field we are hoping to make an announcement which will bolster our management team very soon and we have a few players getting close to fitness.
Mark Rogers has returned to light training and we are hopeful Ashley Leather will get into some light training this week.
Richmond Botchey should also be back at training along with Anthony Potts to add more competition for places! Long term absentees Zac Cooper, Jamie Mclenan, and Tom Bailey are still some way off but we will keep monitoring them over the next couple of weeks.
As always thanks for the support and enjoy the game!
