Following West’s hard fought 2-1 win over Nelson last night they have earned another home tie as they welcome Lancaster City in the quarter finals. The win see’s West continue to fight on three fronts in County Cup competitions as they look to achieve success in the Lancashire Challenge Trophy, Manchester Premier Cup and Manchester Women’s Cup.
Lancashire Challenge Trophy
Elswhere in the first round Holker Old Boys defeated Bacup Borough 3-1, Bamber Bridge routed Southport 7-0 and Squires Gate lost narrowly at home to Radcliffe Borough 3-2.

Manchester Premier Cup
The Manchester Premier Cup kicked off this week with the first of seven ties taking place. Current holders FC United have a bye to the quarter finals.
West have themselves arguably the tie of the round as they travel to the other side of Chorlton where they take on Maine Road at Brantingham Road. The two fixtures last season saw crowds of 670 and 450, capturing the imagination of the local public, and hopefully this will be no exception.
Four games have been played to date with fellow NWCFL side Irlam narrowly losing away to Salford City in front of a crowd of over 500. Droylsden upset Curzon Ashton away winning 3-2 whilst Hyde United beat Radcliffe Borough 1-0 and Mossley defeated Ashton United on penalties.
The two remaining ties see Glossop North End host Trafford and Chadderton face Abbey Hey on October 24th.
Manchester Women’s Cup
West Women play their first ever Manchester Women’s FA Cup tie this weekend as they host Flixton Juniors in the second round at Brookburn Road.
Due to an administration error West had initially received a bye into the second round but the need to reduce the remaining teams in the competition from nine to eight saw them drawn at home to the GMWFL Division Two side.

FC United are the competitions current holders having defeated City of Manchester in the final at Brookburn Road 5-1 last season. The highest ranking team left in the competition are NWWRFL Premier Division side Manchester Stingers who’ve won the competition twice previously.
